The Singapore Committee for UN Women is a non-profit organisation working towards women’s empowerment and gender equality in the region. Established in 1997, the organisation originally functioned as a National Committee of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. As part of this process, UNIFEM merged with other women’s entities under the United Nations to form UN Women, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact.
We support programs that provide women and girls with access to education, healthcare, economic independence and a life free of violence and abuse.
In order to achieve this, we undertake a wide range of fundraising activities, membership drives and public education programs and events.
